September is upon us and we all know what that means: Canadian youth are preparing to head back to school. Whether entering a new grade or a new school, September is a stressful time of year for Canadian students. TransCore Link Logistics’ LinkScholar program is proud to award two first-year university students $2,500 to ease their transition into the next chapter of their lives.

“We’re thrilled to continue to give back to the trucking industry through investing in the future of our industry members’ children,” said TransCore Link Logistics General Manager Claudia Milicevic.

The 2019 LinkScholar program received applications from exceptional Canadian students across the country. Two students, one from each coast, stood out from the crowd: Justin MacLennan from Scotsburn, Nova Scotia and Kayla Sande from Penticton, British Columbia.

Both MacLennan and Sande have well-earned reputations as community-minded. Athletic successes, academic prowess, substantial volunteerism and participation in community groups littered MacLennan and Sande’s applications.

In its sixth year, LinkScholar has now awarded $30,000 to 12 Canadian university students. There are two criteria for eligibility: having a relative in the trucking industry and attending a Canadian university.

“It’s gratifying to see the tremendous applications that our industry’s children put forward,” said Milicevic. “We have no doubt they will succeed in whatever venture they put their minds to.”
