“Do what Michael Jordan does, have your numbers talk about you,” top sales man, Ambassador and Official Raptors Superfan Nav Bhatia told attendees at the 21st Annual Link Conference & Charity Golf Tournament. Never to brag, Bhatia noted that he comes from humble beginnings, has faced discrimination and has overcome adversity. The key message Bhatia had for attendees was “work hard and believe in the dignity of labour.”
The event that took place on Wednesday, July 17 in Brampton, Ontario was led by Left Lane Associates President Mike McCarron. McCarron entertained the audience and ensured every aspect of the conference ran smoothly in his role as master of ceremonies.
The morning presentations kicked off with Claudia Milicevic, general manager, TransCore Link Logistics delivering relevant industry trends including an overview of profit margins for carriers and brokers and recent economic signals and how it could impact the audience. “May 2019 saw the highest value of exported goods to the USA in history,” she shared.
Themed Level Up, morning conference attendees heard from five of the best and brightest in the fields of media, business and professional development. The event drew a diverse crowd of carriers, brokers and industry partners of TransCore Link Logistics who were interested in building business connections, growth strategies, branding and technology tools.
Speakers included:
- Craig Faucette – Director of Policy and Programs, Trucking HR
- Robin Mascarenhas – Senior Manager, IoT Solutions, Rogers Communications
- Joel Mandelbaum, Technology Consultant at iOPW Inc. and #1 best-selling author
- Manan Gupta – General Manager, Newcom South Asian Media
- Jag Dhatt – Senior VP of Marketing, JGK Media
Following Nav’s closing keynote, he surprised the audience with a few prizes including pairs of Raptors tickets and a signed Raptors jersey, before closing the conference with an opportunity for the audience to take photos with him.
Golf Tourney Special Features Made the Afternoon a Hole in One
Conference attendees met with golfers for a hearty lunch before they put their golf abilities to the test at the challenging Legends course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club. Golfers did not need to fret losing a ball as they were supplied with plenty, and when not channeling their inner Tiger Woods, golfers were kept fueled and hydrated with ice cream, poutine, beavertails, freezies and more. As an added challenege, golfers were invited to compete in on course challenges, including “closest to the palm tree”, a trivia challenge, “beat the pro” and longest drive.
Building on its reputation as the best tournament for giveaways, the 21st Link Charity Golf Tournament one-upped itself. Prizes ranging from camping gear, to high-tech items including bluetooth speakers, to Maple Leafs and Raptors tickets and even two 65″ 4K smart TVs were awarded to golfers. Every participant had the satisfaction of walking away with a prize, and as a special bonus, every golfer received a luxurious sport jacket.
Following the conclusion of the golf tournament, golfers were ushered inside to enjoy a delicious meal and hear from BBBSC representative Feven Tesfamariam about the impact the organization has. With the last prizes awarded, the ball was in the hole on the 21st Annual Link Charity Golf Tournament.
