TransCore’s Canadian Freight Volumes for Loadlink Moved Higher to Close the Third Quarter of 2016
TORONTO – TransCore Link Logistics volumes for Canadian and cross-border loads closed the third quarter of 2016 with a positive gain. Compared to last month, volumes were up five percent month-over-month. Year-over-year volumes also increased; up 10 percent compared to September 2015.
The third quarter of 2016 showed a decline in load volumes, dipping eight percent compared to the previous quarter. Despite this quarter-over-quarter decline, year-over-year volumes were higher by seven percent when compared to the third quarter of 2015.
Intra-Canada load volumes represented 29 percent of the total volumes and were up 13 percent compared to September 2015. Cross-border loads averaged 66 percent of the total data submitted by Loadlink’s Canadian-based customers, and improved compared to last year. Loads leaving Canada were slightly higher by two percent, and loads coming into Canada were up by 18 percent year-over-year.
Equipment capacity decreased nine percent month-over-month; however, capacity was up three percent year-over-year. The equipment-to-load ratio decreased to 3.10 trucks for every load available, down from 3.58 in August. Year-over-year, this ratio decreased six percent from 3.29 in September 2015.
